Livelihood

Kutch is a remote district in Gujarat with geographically challenging areas. The region is known for its rich tradition of creating handicraft items, but the local women often lack the knowledge to expand their businesses. Due to poor living conditions, they struggle financially. Grow India organized a marketplace and fair in Vadodara to help these women sell their handicraft items. This initiative empowered them, and we are currently providing support to enhance their livelihoods.

Empowering Women Through Sales

In another initiative, Grow India set up a stall at a religious event to display and sell handicraft items made by the women of Kutch. The religious leader encouraged attendees to visit the Grow India stall and purchase the items. This support provided a significant boost to the women’s financial independence, as the audience, inspired by the leader, bought the products.

Skill Development Project for Women

A group of CSR-trained women in Vadodara, skilled in stitching, had a unit of sewing machines, but it was not operational due to a lack of funds and demand. At an expo in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Grow India discussed with a company representative the possibility of these women creating similar products. The company expressed a frequent need for such materials and placed an order for jute bags. This opportunity empowered the women, and they are now in contact with the company for future orders.

Creating an Oxygen Park

Grow India facilitated the development of an oxygen park in Vadodara with the support of the municipal corporation. They planted trees and plants that produce high levels of oxygen. Today, the park is lush with greenery and provides a peaceful environment. Grow India remains committed to environmental protection.

Capacity Building of Newly Elected Women

The agency is also involved in training activities. In collaboration with a partner organization, our consultants are providing training in Gujarat for newly elected PRI women candidates, educating them on the rules and regulations of the government system. These women, though elected, often lack knowledge about the next steps. Through this program, they are gaining the necessary knowledge and skills.

Digital Classes for Marginalized Communities

Grow India is also helping provide online education classes to boys and girls in Rajkot and Surendranagar, Gujarat, who struggle to study properly. The classes are scheduled according to their availability, and 57 students are currently enrolled and attending regularly.
